Moving to a new apartment is so exciting: you get to decorate a blank space from scratch and make it feel like a home. But decorating an entire place can be a very expensive activity. The truth is you don’t have to splurge on every item of furniture, you do not need to buy the most expensive version of accent furniture or coffee table books, for example. On the other hand, here are some pieces that you should splurge on.

Bedding and Mattress

When it comes to making your house feel like a home, one of the most important parts is the place where you sleep. Do not be afraid to spend some extra dollars on a comfortable mattress and cozy bedding – after all, you will be using that bed every single night.

Rugs can be pretty expensive, so many of us will opt for a smaller one to save up some money. But the truth is carpets and rugs can make or break a room. If a rug is too small, it will make your room look small. If your rug is the right size for your space, it will create a sense of comfort and luxury.

If you have ever experienced having an uncomfortable couch, you probably already learned this lesson the hard way. But it is better, in the long run, to splurge a little on a high-quality couch which will be comfortable, durable, and nice-looking. If you want to make your investment last for years and years, get a sofa with a very classic shape – this way it can match any style of decoration you might want to try over time.
