The primary theme of the word “Yoga” is connection. To connect your body with your mind. Although the media tends to portray yoga as a set of physical poses, it is much more than that. It is a form of meditation, which includes a wide range of self-disciplinary practices. Yoga is an extremely beneficial exercise, and there are plenty of scientific research papers to prove this.

Yoga has the primary benefit of improving your body’s flexibility. Yoga offers many styles or poses to choose of varying in intensity from high to moderate to mild. You can choose whichever is suitable for you. Even if you choose the poses with the least intensity, they will still help in increasing your body’s flexibility.

In today’s modern world, stress is something that affects most people. The rigor of everyday life tends to take a toll on peoples’ physical and mental health. Yoga is something which helps beat the stress. There is also scientific evidence that yoga, especially asana, is excellent at reducing stress.

Yoga is also known to reduce inflammation in the body. Owing to the various styles, intensities, and durations of various poses, they are helpful in reducing the biochemical markers of inflammation across several chronic conditions. If you are someone who suffers from arthritis or heart disease, for instance, yoga is an excellent activity to do.

Due to yoga’s ability to fight inflammation, as well as, its ability to enhance cell-mediated immunity, yoga also holds the ability to boost immunity. Improved immunity makes you less susceptible to diseases by improving your body’s ability to fight infections. While research is still lacking to show a distinct correlation between yoga practices and improved immunity, many case studies prove that yoga improves immunity.
