Moving to a new place can be very exciting. Painting all the walls, buying new pieces of furniture, adding new decoration… But it turns out that there is such a thing as overdecorating. That is, if you try to decorate your entire house at once, you will end up with way too many things that don’t really match and you don’t actually need – or want.

Take Your Time

When moving into a new house, most people want to change all the rooms immediately. It’s understandable that you want your place to look like you, and you want to feel at home, but this is not the best way to do it. If you take the time to observe which rooms you spend more time in and what you need from each room, your decor choices can be way more certain and precise. There is no point in adding decor elements that do not fit a room’s atmosphere or purpose.

Less Is More

If you can, avoid adding too many decor pieces to your home. While a minimalist style might not be for everyone, a half-empty room looks tidier than a half-full one. A good trick to keep the place from being visually polluted is adding pieces of furniture where you can store all your mess. This way, everything is where you need it to be but you don’t have to see it all the whole day.
