Taylor Swift's Second 2020 Album Is Just As Impressive As The First One
It was in the middle of the most chaotic of all global crises that Taylor Swift found her chance to make magic once again. While many of us started spending most of our downtime being more introspective than ever before, Taylor took the opportunity to hide away in the woods with her friends in order to make some sense of this new life. The result of that getaway is now known as ‘Folklore’, Taylor’s album released in July.
‘Folklore’ was not only nominated for a Grammy but also the best selling album of 2020. However, in December, the singer still felt like there were more stories left to be heard from that special universe, so she released ‘Evermore’. On the album release week, all of its 15 tracks entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts, while its lead single ‘Willow’ became the seventh No. 1 single in Taylor’s career. And as if that was not enough, the newly-released ‘Evermore’ became her eighth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 charts. In fact, thanks to her two surprise records this year, her name appeared on the No. 1 position for nine nonconsecutive weeks in 2020.
Known for her tragic country songs about high-school crushes and cheerful pop anthems about her turbulent love life, Taylor showed the public there’s nothing she can’t do. Reinventing herself once more, the singer created her own fantasy universe, still able to maintain the perfect balance between catchy melodies and powerful lyrics that have earned her hundreds of awards.
