Kale has made a name for itself in recent years as the much trendier younger sister of spinach. But there’s a reason why this leafy green is so beloved by health nuts everywhere. For starters, it’s packed with nutrients. Plus, kale also really versatile – whether you toss the leaves into a green juice or bake them with some olive oil, you’re bound to end up with a delicious snack. Basically, kale is the perfect ingredient to take your green salad to the next level.

The ingredients in this salad are pretty basic kitchen staples. From eggs to tuna, you’ll probably already have these ingredients in your pantry without having to make an extra trip to the supermarket. Once you’ve mixed them with some chopped vegetables, all that’s left to do is toss with your favorite dressing! Try a honey-mustard or a vinegarette.

One of the best ways to jazz up a salad is by mixing ingredients with different textures and temperatures. Adding some roasted tofu cubes to your salad accomplishes both. The addition of these warm and crispy tofu pieces to your otherwise crisp leafy salad will make for a truly interesting bite. Try a sprinkle of blueberries for some subtle sweetness.

This one might not seem like a very revolutionary salad. After all, the Waldorf Salad is a pretty established dish. However, seeing as other, trendier salads have taken over our Instagram feeds, we thought it was high time for a comeback for this classic recipe. Combining the sweetness of apples with the crunchiness of walnuts, this is the perfect salad for those nights when you’re hosting guests whom you wish to impress.
