Red Carpet Designers Launch At-Home Art Projects

You’re in the majority if you’ve been spending most of your time nowadays baking and binge-watching TV shows. But how many cookies can you eat while watching yet another episode of ‘How I Met Your Mother’? Designer Jimmy Choo and Alexander McQueen have the cure for your sheltering in place boredom! The designers have launched an at-home art project via Instagram. The initiatives are meant to inspire creativity while stuck at home, whether it is sketching runway looks or dreaming up unique designs. Designer Carolina Herrera launched “Herrera in Color” on Instagram asking users to upload an illustration of a Carolina Herrera runway look with the hashtags #HerreraInColor for the chance to be featured on the brands social channels. “Carolina Herrera has always been a celebration of color and joy,” creative director Wes Gordon tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m inviting anyone to create a beautiful image inspired by Herrera and we will highlight some of our favorites. We must keep creating, painting, drawing … and dreaming.”

Alexander McQueen has been posting three-dimensional flowers on Instagram each week and challenging followers to take a screenshot and re-create the image. The brand is reposting select images with the hashtags #McQueenCreators. Jimmy Choo launched #ChooSketch, a program that gives aspiring designers the opportunity to draw their own “fantasy shoes” inspired by a new theme each week. One such theme included “unity,” which creative director Sandra Choi chose to encourage the sentiment that we’re all in this together. Choi will narrow the entries down to 10 and let the brand’s Instagram followers vote on five finalists.
