Is there any time of day we long for more than dinnertime? Probably not. After a long day at the office, all we really want to do is kick up our feet and dig into a nice hearty meal. And there is perhaps no better dish to dig into than a bowl of creamy, savory pasta. Here are some of our favorite pasta dishes that are guaranteed to leave you longing for more.

Fettuccine Alfredo

If tomato-based sauces aren’t your thing, then a nice creamy alfredo is definitely going to be the sauce for you. Typically served over the slightly wider fettuccine pasta, alfredo sauce is made of butter and a lot of parmesan cheese. Once you start stirring the melted cheese into the butter, the sauce forms a nice creamy and smooth consistency which is absolutely perfect for smothering your pasta with.

If you’re looking for a rich, meaty sauce that doesn’t mess around, look no further than the classic bolognese sauce. Comprised of ground meat that has been simmering in a marinara sauce, this savory sauce is the perfect thing to pour over your bowl of freshly boiled pasta. Many people think spaghetti tastes best when it’s cooked a bit al dente – meaning slightly undercooked – and we would have to agree.

Cheese Ravioli

Ravioli is truly a genius invention. It’s as if someone took the already perfect invention of pasta and thought, “What would happen if we turned these into perfect little pockets and stuffed them with cheese?” The result is the no-fail cheese ravioli we all know and love. Try stuffing yours with sage ricotta and sprinkling with parmesan for a sophisticated take on this unassuming dish.

Lasagna

Lasagna is more than a pasta dish. In many families, it’s a timeworn tradition. And really, is there anything more satisfying than warming up a nice big slice of leftover lasagna from the night before? Somehow, it’s almost as good, if not better, than enjoying it fresh from the oven. There are many variations on this perfect comfort food. Optional ingredients include eggplant, spinach, and Italian sausage. Additionally, white sauce lasagna is a great alternative!
