Whenever anyone thinks of art and culture, a mental association is drawn between the words and Europe. Now naturally, going all over Europe in search of museums is a costly endeavor which is why we compile here a list of art museums that one absolutely must visit!

No such list would be complete without the mention of the Louvre Museum. The world’s most visited museum and cultural attraction is found in Paris, France. The Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain, is also an excellent art museum to visit for its collection of European art which dates to roughly the 12th century, and then all the way up to the early 20th century. Moreover, while it attracts a wide range of tourists, those with a particular fondness for Spanish art will feel right at home here surrounded by the works of Velasquez, Murillo, and the likes.

Lastly, the National Gallery in London is a definite must-visit location if you ever find yourself in the UK. It stands tall as one of the premier destinations for art enjoyers and is entirely free to the general public. This means that enjoying great art by renowned artists like da Vinci, van Gogh and Michelangelo does not come with a price tag. Another great aspect of the National Gallery is that it lies in the heart of London and so the average tourist need not go out of their way to visit it.
