Fashion is a lot like us – it’s everchanging. From season to season, the high-fashion runway trends change faster than we change our socks. By the time we purchase some trendy new pieces at our local Zara shop, the fashion industry has already moved onto the next fad. So since we’re currently mid-fall, we figured this would be a good time to explore some of the fashion trends sweeping the runways, before it’s too late. Even if you don’t plan on purchasing a whole new set of clothes this season, there’s no reason why you can’t incorporate some of these stylish looks into next year’s wardrobe.

One of the most popular trends among high-fashion brands was the bougie girl look. While it might seem that looking luxe and expensive has always been in style, it’s more true now than ever. The perfect revival of the classic 70s girl, this trend incorporates classically feminine details such as bows, girly blouses, pleated skirts, and chic jackets. Among the many high-end brands to feature the bougie girl look on their runways were Valentino, Christian Dior, Celine, Burberry, Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga, Gucci, Tod’s, and Fendi.

There seemed to be a theme on the runways this year because the uptown girl ensemble definitely ruled supreme. Another trend that rocked the runways this season was women’s suits. And not just any suits – we’re talking full-on power suits. From sharp shoulders to no-nonsense tailoring, this trend is all about showing the world who’s boss. There were many labels who were proud to parade this look down the runway, among them: Balenciaga and Givenchy, Proenza Schouler, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Thom Browne, Prada. Who runs the world? Most definitely, girls.
